Question:
How much/hard can the backhoe be used during the first 50 hour break-in period?
Can I start digging up larger size stumps during break-in?
Thanks,
DT.

The pressure relief in your hydraulic system should limit any damage you can do from overworking the hoe at most any stage of it's usefull life. Moving backhoes around a rough jobsite without having the boom lock latched can cause more damage than the actual use of the hoe. Frank. ....

How about engine RPM's, etc?
I've read (not in anything official like manuals, etc.) that during break-in you shouldn't throttle over a certain RPM, and also heard that the backhoe needs alot of throttle/RPM's to be useful.
Any problem winding up the RPM's enough for digging during break-in?
I would think not because why would they sell such an expensive/tough machine that couldn't be used for what it was made, fresh out of the box? but what do I know...
Thanks again,
DT.

DT; Your owners manual should have a section on breakin, I'd follow what it recommends. I've never liked to run a fresh engine real hard for the first day or two, but others will say the opposite. Running the engine at full RPM to operate the backhoe really is'nt necessary, about 2/3 to 3/4 of full throttle is plenty. I can be jerky enough at 2/3. Frank. ....

You will not lose any digging power at lower RPM's, it will just slow the speed of operation down. That is not a bad thing, especially when you are just getting the hang of the controls.
I have had a BX22 and now have a similar Deere. I NEVER run the hoe at full RPM. Half throttle is more like it. ....
